Abide by the Rules – The Bureaucrat 正官 (“Zhen Guan”)

In the recent holidays, I played the Monopoly board game with some friends. The objective of the game is to buy land, build houses/hotels and collect an insurmountable amount of rents from other players when they “visit” your houses/hotels. Eventually, those who cannot pay through their nose, would “bankrupt” and lose the game.

There are many different versions of house rules in the game of Monopoly. One of the house rules is to allow trading of land and/or houses with other players. One of my friends, who was not familiar with this rule, was unhappy about it. He has already been fussing about some of our house rules before the game started. He insisted that such rules do not exist within the original rules book of the game. He was googling for the “original golden rules” book of Monopoly during the whole session. Needless to say, he lost the game eventually. He was not playing by our house rules as he insisted that his “original golden rules” were the correct way.

A person with a  正官 (“Zhen Guan”) BaZi structure likes to abide by the rules set by the authority, superior or organization. They perform well in areas structured with systematic rules, methods, and procedures. They believe in the “system”. They are good at doing repetitive activities/jobs and always find ways to fine-tune the existing system. When plans run according to the standard operating procedures (SOP), they are very helpful and usually like to play a diplomatic role. People born with this structure thrive and work well in a large organization such as the multi-national company. On the other hand, they dislike drastic and sudden changes. They will be “kan cheong” (anxious) when processes do not follow the SOP. In ancient times, they are known as the “Bureaucrat (臣)”.

In school, courses designed with procedures and defined way of learning would help people born with the 正官 (“Zhen Guan”) structure to learn new methods and procedures. They would thrive in work that requires meticulous attention and focus. Activities such as studying history, artifacts, laws, medical procedures, Mathematics, Physics, law enforcement, politics, processes, and finance would be beneficial to them. Co-curricular activities that train students to be focused and disciplined such as chess, Sudoku, running, gym, yoga, etc would help to enhance their bureaucratic characters.

A 正官 (“Zhen Guan”) BaZi structure person is usually a good companion as they are kind. They dislike argument UNLESS you plan to break the original rule and create another NEW rule in the game of Monopoly! 😀

Notable person with the Bureaucrat 正官 (“Zhen Guan”) structure includes: Jack Welch (GE), Micheal Phelps (Olympian Competitive Swimmer) and Kate Winslet (Actress in Titanic)
