Possibilities are discovered by asking “How” not “When / Will / Should or Can”
As a metaphysics career and business consultant, I am often being asked by many people about timing-based questions.
“When will I get my next promotion?”, “Will I lose my job next year?”, “Will my business prosper next year?” “When will I become ____?” (*fill in the blank rich/fit/married/etc*).
People tend to gravitate towards asking “When” or “Will” questions as if they have no control over the situation. It is as if everything that ever happens to us is at the mercy of our external circumstances.
What if I told you, that the answer to your question lies in a simple switch to the way we ask our question.
It starts by changing from “When” to “How”.
The moment we switch our questions to “How”, our mind instantly shifts from a dependent state to a possibility mind-set.
We no longer wait for things to happen, but instead, we actively seek out ways to make it come true. We become the creator of infinite possibilities. We become the maker of dreams come true.
For example:
“Will I lose my job next year?” => “How can I keep my job and make it big next year?”
“Will my business prosper?” => “How can I increase my profits by 50% next year?”
By asking “How”, we are now in an actively responsible mind-set. We own the problem and we want to figure out a way to get to the result that we so desire. If we could not make it the first time, we ask “How” again. We constantly re-discover possible solutions to our problems.
Think about the time when we learned to cycle when we were young. Did we not try to figure out how to do it step by step? Did we not try to climb up the bike, ride a little, fall, and re-try? If it still doesn’t work, did we not try to add some support wheels till we finally do not need em?
Do you ever ask your parents, “Will I be able to cycle next year?” I doubt so.
So, the next time you feel like asking “When / Will / Should or Can”, pause for a while, and rephrase your question to HOW. Own the problem, and make POSSIBILITIES come true.
